A good pair of shoes will make all the difference. Make sure they are comfortable, mud, humidity and water-proof. Don’t forget field glasses, extra film, a torch, rain gear, a hat and sun protection, as well as insect repellent.

Flying to the interior? Remember you can only take a limited weight, and a soft bag is easier to handle. If you are meeting people from different cultures, always make an effort to fit in. Be careful not to break local taboos, and don’t photograph anybody without their permission. Wherever you go, don’t take anything but a photograph, and don’t leave anything but a footprint.
